GOLOWAN FESTIVAL – Mazey Day

Penzance

21st – 30th June 2024

Golowan is a 10-day festival of arts, performances, culture and parades. It’s the UK’s second largest street festival.

The 2024 Golowan theme ‘Together, We Shine’ , in Cornish War-barth Golowi a Wren, celebrates all that is brilliant and inspirational about community, past and present.

In their Mazey Day parades, they have wonderful parade structures that have been imaginatively designed to fit each year’s festival theme. These carnival creations are created by children and staff from local schools working with local artists.

Morrab Gardens will again provide the focus for a family day out with the Community Showcase featuring martial arts demonstrations, Mr. and Mrs. Passmore Edwards puppets, Cymbalology, an Inflatable Play Area, with music and entertainment for all ages centred on the bandstand.

The Golowan Marquee hosted this year by the Cornish Crown is in St. Anthony’s Car Park and will supply an array of lively music throughout the day building to a crescendo long into the night.

The South Quay will see the Folk Stage delivering a lively music session of delights. Street Music will be on the Quay next to The Boatshed while the Youth Music Stage will host an eclectic range of performances on the Promenade opposite Alexandra Gardens, just up from the lively and energetic Roller Disco.
