General Bus Info:

Buses are now provided by several bus companies.

The Padstow area (south of the River Camel) is served by the following buses:
Go Cornwall Bus number 11 – Padstow to Bodmin Parkway station via Wadebridge
Go Cornwall Bus number 56 – Padstow to Newquay via Newquay Airport.
First Kernow Atlantic Coaster – Padstow to Newquay via Newquay Airport  (summer season only) it is a open top bus offering amazing views along the journey via the 7 bays between Newquay and Padstow.

To visit areas north of the River Camel (Polzeath, Port Isaac) from Padstow, you will have to take the number 11 bus to Wadebridge and catch the number 96 bus from there.  Alternatively, you can take the Padstow to Rock ferry and walk to the bus stop at Clock Garage which is a walk of approximately 20 minutes.

General Train Info:

Cornwall is well serviced by the South Western Railway which offers regular services from London Paddington, connecting with Reading, Exeter and Bristol en route.

The nearest train station to Wadebridge and Padstow is Bodmin Parkway.

Google will tell you that the nearest train station is either Roche or St Columb Road.  Whilst these are geograhically slightly nearer they are small stations on the Newquay to Par branchline and are not easily accessible by public transport. The 11 bus runs from Bodmin Parkway to Padstow via Wadebridge, therefore, making it the easiest and quickest route.

For  the Looe branch line change at Liskeard.  For the Newquay branch line change at Par.  For Falmouth change at Truro. For St Ives change at St Erth.

Based at Newquay Airport.  Offers taxi services around Newquay, Mawgan Porth, Watergate Bay, St Mawgan, St Columb and the surrounding areas.

Daily Hire:  Any of their cars and drivers can be hired on a daily basis. This can be very useful for business customers needing to travel to meetings in different areas of Cornwall.   They can be waiting for you at the Airport when you land and take you to any appointments or meetings you may have and then get you back to the airport without any of the hassle of having to call for taxis and waiting around.  Please contact them to discuss your requirements.

Mini Bus Hire:  Coastline Travel has seven 8-seater minibuses available and two 16-seaters on request available for pre-booking. Please call for details.

Coastline Travel also have a wheelchair accessible vehicle with ramp, winch and clamps, capable of carrying a wheelchair passenger and two other passengers.

Padstow Main Road Car Park:

Pay & Display car park situated on the A389, on the site of the former Padstow Park & Ride, postcode PL28 8EX. Open every day (weather permitting) 4th April – 31st October. Gates open from 8.00 am – 10.00 pm. It is a 10 minute walk to the harbour.  Telephone: 07803 557023 for opening times.

The number 895 bus operated by First Bus goes from opposite Tesco down to the harbour every 15 minutes, £1.60 one way or £2.40 return and they accept bus passes. Please note that this bus is not operated by the car park.

Rock Water Taxi:

The Wavehunters Water Taxi operates between Padstow and Rock across the Camel Estuary:

The service operates every evening from 6.45 pm in the spring, summer and autumn months and is a convenient way to hop between the two popular destinations. The 10 meter jet-powered catamaran is fully licensed for 12 passengers and has outside seating, alongside a comfortable heated inside cabin. There is no need to book ahead and you are able to track the water taxi’s location, so you’ll never miss it again!

Crosses every 10-15 minutes from 18.45 daily.  Save at least 45 minutes driving around the Estuary.

Padstow to Rock Ferry:

A passenger ferry runs between Padstow and Rock daily.  At high tide it runs from the outer harbour wall every 15-20 minutes and from Lower Beach at low tide every 15-20 minutes.  Please check the blue board at the outer harbour wall for daily times and departure points.  Adult fare £3 one way and Child fare is £1.50.  There is a £3 charge for bikes. Dogs are welcome.  Card payment only.
